History:  Apex and his twin brother Zenith were added to the Patriot team in 2003.  Program scientists were given the task of creating a second generation to follow Paragon, and the twins were selected to be his successors.  As their mentor, it is hoped that Paragon will give them the benefit of his military experience, and his unique experiences as the first Samaritan.

Real name:  Nicholas Shade

History:  After graduating at the top of his Harvard Law class, Nicholas Shade worked for Crandall Oil’s law offices until eventually becoming a lobbyist in Washington.  His impressive political acumen soon garnered him attention from the press and politicians alike.  It was not long before he gave up his corporate career to work for the government itself.

 Nicholas Shade’s star rose quickly:  after a stint as a Federal Prosecutor, he became a department head at the C.I.A.  While considered a front-runner for Director there, he opted instead to become an overseas diplomat.  In this administration, he became a special assistant to the President, consulting on international affairs and legislation.  After September Eleventh, Nicholas Shade was picked to head up the Samaritan Project, coordinating with every branch of the Federal Government to protect our country from threats foreign and domestic.
